These protections, traditionally associated with employees, are also available to self-employed professionals and collaborators, providing financial support during pregnancy and the early months of a child\u2019s life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To qualify for the benefit, applicants must be registered with the <em>Gestione Separata<\/em>, must not be receiving a pension, must not be covered by another mandatory maternity insurance scheme, and must have paid at least one month of contributions to the <em>Gestione Separata<\/em> within the twelve months preceding the maternity or paternity period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" data-id=\"7603\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hrcapital.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/accordo-shutterstock_694253248-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7603\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hrcapital.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/accordo-shutterstock_694253248-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.hrcapital.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/accordo-shutterstock_694253248-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hrcapital.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/accordo-shutterstock_694253248-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.hrcapital.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/accordo-shutterstock_694253248.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The standard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrcapital.it\/en\/observatory\/inps-nuove-regole-per-la-fruizione-del-congedo-di-maternita-flessibile\/\">maternity <\/a>period covers two months before and three months after childbirth (with flexibility options), totaling five months. During this time, abstention from work is not mandatory, meaning the mother may continue working while receiving the allowance. Additionally, if the income earned in the year prior to the event was below \u20ac8,145 (or \u20ac9,456.53 for 2025), an additional three months of benefits may be requested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for fathers, INPS specifies that paternity leave is granted under the same conditions as maternity leave, in cases where the mother is unable to take advantage of the benefit due to death, serious illness, abandonment of the child, or exclusive custody granted to the father. In such cases, the duration corresponds to the unused portion of the mother\u2019s leave or, if the mother is not employed, to three months from the date of birth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The benefit amounts to 80% of 1\/365 of the income considered for contribution purposes and is paid directly by INPS via bank or postal transfer.
