What is welfare?

Welfare is the set of goods and services that the company can provide to its employees in order to increase their well-being and to promote a work-life balance.

Anything provided by way of corporate welfare is subject to a favorable tax and social contribution regime and, in most cases, is totally exempt from taxes and contributions; in most cases, therefore, it allows the employee to benefit from 100% of the budget allocated to him or her.

Indeed, a corporate welfare plan provides services that reduce the tax wedge for both the company and the employee.

What are the procedures for preparing the welfare plan?

In order to put in place a welfare plan, it is necessary to draft a company regulation that lists the beneficiaries to whom the plan is addressed, the goods and services provided, the welfare credits allocated and any conditions for granting them.

The main welfare goods and services that can be included in the plan are:

  • insurance plans;
  • supplementary pension and health assistance;
  • shopping/fuel vouchers;
  • reimbursement of educational expenses;
  • training courses;
  • sports and wellness;
  • travel and leisure.
